Heavyweight tees in South Africa: what to actually look for
By DO NOT TOUCH ·

Start with the shirt you want to wear
Searching for heavyweight tees in South Africa brings together shirts that can look similar on a screen and feel different on the body. A useful starting point is your own wardrobe. Which tee do you reach for most often? Think about its width, length, sleeve and weight. Then decide what you want more of, or less of, in the next piece. That gives you a practical reference before a product description starts making the decision for you.
A heavyweight tee can be the centre of an outfit, with the fabric and silhouette doing as much work as the graphic. It can also be an everyday piece that you wear simply with trousers you already own. Neither approach needs a complicated set of rules. Look for clear information about the garment, and use that information to judge whether it matches the way you actually dress.
Ask for the GSM
GSM means grams per square metre. It describes fabric weight for a fixed area, not the total weight of a finished tee. A larger shirt can weigh more than a smaller one while using exactly the same GSM fabric. When a brand states the number, you have a concrete detail to compare with another shirt instead of relying on words such as premium, thick or substantial.
At DO NOT TOUCH, the blank is 250 GSM combed heavyweight cotton. That is part of the structure we choose for the oversized box fit. It does not mean the number alone guarantees a particular lifespan, prevents every change after washing or tells you how warm you will feel. Fabric weight belongs alongside composition, construction and care in your decision. Read those details together rather than treating one number as a complete quality score.
Look at the proportions
Oversized describes room; box fit describes shape. The two can work together, but buying a regular tee in a much larger size does not necessarily create the same proportions. You may gain length you did not want as well as extra width. A deliberate box fit considers the relationship between the shoulder, chest, sleeve and hem, so the shirt reads as a shape rather than simply a size.
Before ordering, lay a favourite tee flat. Measure across the chest and from the collar to the hem, then compare like with like against the size guide. Pay attention to both numbers. If you only look at chest width, you can miss a length that changes the whole outfit. DO NOT TOUCH tees are unisex, in XS to XL, and already cut oversized. The measurements are more useful than assuming that your label size is identical across every brand.
Study more than the first photograph
The leading product image gives an impression. The rest of the gallery should help you understand what you are choosing. Look for the front, back and detail views where they are available. Notice where the artwork sits on the shirt and how much space surrounds it. A close view of the print answers a different question from a full view of someone wearing the garment, and both can matter.
With a piece such as Ocean, the framed back artwork is central to the design. The front and the overall fit still matter because those are part of what you wear every day. Compare colourways using the labelled views rather than assuming a close-up represents every option. If the view you need is missing or unclear, ask the brand. It is better to resolve a specific visual question before ordering than to turn a guess into an expectation.
Read the price with the delivery terms
Compare the total order, not just the number beside the tee. At DO NOT TOUCH, pricing can vary by design and colour, and the selected colour's price appears on the product page. Shipping within South Africa is charged per order, with free shipping on two or more pieces. Check the current product and cart amounts as you make your selection rather than relying on a price quoted in an old post.
Timing matters too. Every piece is printed per order and dispatched within 10 working days. Delivery then takes 2–4 days after manufacturing is complete. The courier is confirmed closer to dispatch. If you are buying for an event, include production time in your planning. A shirt being available to order does not mean it is a finished parcel waiting to leave that afternoon.
Check care and returns before checkout
A heavyweight shirt still needs a suitable care routine. Our instructions are to wash inside out, cold, on a gentle cycle, hang to dry and avoid ironing directly over the textured print. Read the care page before deciding whether the piece fits your routine. The weight of the cotton is not a reason to ignore the printed surface or treat the garment more harshly in the wash.
The returns page is equally useful before you buy. DO NOT TOUCH accepts eligible returns within 14 days of delivery, with pieces unworn, unwashed and in their original condition. Read the full terms for return shipping, exchanges and faulty orders. Keep the order code and contact the brand if you need help. Clear measurements and clear policies make the decision easier without needing a stock countdown or a rushed checkout.
Choose something you want to keep wearing
Once the practical details are clear, come back to the piece itself. Choose artwork that feels right to you, a colour that works with your wardrobe and a fit you understand. Our shirts are made to order and do not sell out. There is room to compare the founding four with the DJ designs and decide without a restock deadline. The best starting point is a shirt you can picture wearing in your own life, not only in its product photograph.
